Job summary

WakeMed Oncology Infusion Center is seeking an experienced Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to optimize safe, effective chemotherapy and lead infusion pharmacy initiatives in Raleigh. You will partner with providers and the pharmacy team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

The role includes reviewing orders in Epic/Beacon, counseling patients and families, and mentoring residents while contributing to research, quality improvement, and care plan development.

Qualifications

• Licensed pharmacist with oncology/infusion experience.
• Knowledge of chemotherapy protocols and safe handling.
• Collaborative, team-focused with strong patient safety emphasis.
• PGY1/PGY2 Oncology Residency or BCOP preferred.

We're hiring an Oncology Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to play a key role in supporting patients receiving care in our Oncology Infusion Center. In this highly specialized position, you'll help ensure every patient receives safe, effective, and personalized medication therapy-while also partnering closely with providers and leading clinical pharmacy initiatives within the infusion setting.

Work Schedule

Shift: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (no weekends / consistent schedule)

What you'll do

• Review and verify provider orders to ensure accuracy, safety, and appropriate oncology treatment plans
• Prepare and dispense medications while ensuring timely, compliant infusion center operations
• Counsel patients and families on medications, side effects, and treatment expectations
• Serve as a trusted resource to physicians, nurses, and care teams by providing expert drug information and recommendations
• Contribute to clinical initiatives, including developing order sets, care plans, and supporting infusion pharmacy workflows
• Review and optimize chemotherapy, biologic, and supportive care orders using Epic/Beacon
• Participate in research initiatives, quality improvement projects, and clinical committees
• Precept PGY1/PGY2 residents and pharmacy students

Who you are

• A licensed pharmacist with strong clinical experience in oncology or infusion-based care

Department Description

The outpatient oncology pharmacy department provides direct clinical services within our ambulatory oncology clinics and infusion centers, working collaboratively with oncologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Clinical services are integrated into multidisciplinary oncology workflows, with pharmacists contributing to treatment optimization, medication safety, and quality improvement initiatives. WakeMed Cancer Care offers opportunities for teaching, quality improvement, and active participation in a dynamic, patient-centered oncology care model.
