Job summary

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to coordinate patient care with the Attending Physician and triage patient issues. You will educate patients and families about disease processes and treatment plans, and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.

The role requires DC RN licensure, 1-2 years of ambulatory care and oncology experience, and CPR certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1-2 years of relevant clinical experience required.
• 1-2 years ambulatory care and Oncology experience preferred.
• RN licensure in DC (state or compact) required.
• CPR certification for healthcare providers within 90 days required.
• OCN - Oncology Nursing Certification within 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates activities with the Attending Physician and triages patient issues.
• Provides direct/indirect care and evaluates quality/appropriateness of care delivery.
• Educates patients and families about disease processes and treatment plans.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes and cost-effective care.
• Assists with insurance precertification for tests as part of the treatment plan.
• Triages calls and patient portal inquiries and provides consultations as needed.
• Supports Performance Improvement initiatives and staff orientation/competency.
• Performs other duties as assigned by department leadership.
