Job Description Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting a sales team in the CA geography, covering San Francisco, Sacramento, and LA.

The Oncology Area Business Leader is responsible for leading and developing a team of Oncology Sales Specialists to meet and exceed sales objectives, contributing to Novartis's mission to reimagine cancer. As one of the largest pharmaceutical companies and a pioneer in oncology, we are committed to performance, quality of life improvements, and embracing diverse backgrounds, cultures, and talents.

Job Responsibilities
  • Recruit, develop, retain, mentor, and lead a diverse team to deliver strategic sales objectives and maintain accountability through KPIs and performance management.
  • Model leadership by encouraging a shared vision, clear expectations, accountability, and process optimization.
  • Ensure effective coordination of resources to meet customer needs through total account call management.
  • Develop and implement customer-centric business plans in collaboration with engagement and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in regional leadership to develop overall goals, business execution, and team culture.
  • Foster a customer-centric, results-oriented environment where team members are encouraged to innovate, collaborate, and learn from failures.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of clinical, access, reimbursement, territory management, and omni-channel marketing tools to mentor team members.
  • Use analytics to guide decisions, identify risks and opportunities, and optimize resource deployment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of sales leadership in oncology or specialty pharmaceutical/biotech, or 2+ years if internal or from Novartis's ELDP program.
  • Proven success in leading and inspiring sales teams, strategic thinking, and implementing product strategies.
  • Experience with sophisticated selling environments, success in biopharmaceutical sales, and a valid driver's license with the ability to travel 60-80%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading sales in large practices, hospitals, and understanding reimbursement.
