Job summary

The Third Assistant Engineer at Hornblower Corp serves onboard a vessel, maintaining the engineering plant and supervising crew. This role requires USCG licensure, STCW certs, and the ability to work 56 days on/off in a marine environment.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, logs, safety enforcement, and training of junior engineers while adhering to USCG and IMO-HSC standards. Five years’ experience preferred.

Qualifications

• USCG license as Third Assistant Engineer Unlimited HP.
• STCW 95 certificate and TWIC.
• US passport valid for travel.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred from maritime academy or related field.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and electrical skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and operate vessel systems per USCG and other regs.
• Understudy Chief Engineer and perform duties in absence.
• Conduct daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance and logs.
• Train new engineers and supervise engineering crew.
• Perform emergency repairs and ensure safe engine room.
