Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced software engineer to own the on-board payload processing runtime, the engine behind in-space computing capabilities.

You will integrate accelerator compute frameworks, optimize workloads for orbital hardware, and design robust checkpointing and state persistence to handle intentional or intermittent communications, ensuring reliable mission performance.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/CE or related field.
• 6+ years in HPC or distributed systems.
• Experience with large-scale accelerated computing.
• Understanding of fault tolerance and state management.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and implementation of the on-board payload processing runtime.
• Integrate and optimize accelerator compute frameworks for orbital hardware.
• Design robust workload checkpointing and state persistence for interruptions.
• Define API contracts for job submission and results delivery with latency SLAs.
• Develop a benchmark suite to characterize throughput, latency, and power tradeoffs.
