Blue Origin is building infrastructure in space to enable millions of people to live and work in space for Earth’s benefit. We are developing Sunrise, a constellation of orbital data centers, and seeking a senior hardware engineer to own the GPU-based compute payloads at the heart of our constellation.

You will define the payload compute architecture, drive GPU module design and interconnect topology, and lead qualification for space environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field is required.
• 8+ years of HPC hardware design or GPU systems engineering experience.
• Deep architectural knowledge of modern GPU/TPU ecosystems.
• Experience with high-speed interconnects (PCIe, NVLink).
• Proven track record delivering complex hardware from concept to deployment.

Responsibilities

• Define the payload compute architecture, including GPU density and memory subsystems.
• Design the GPU compute module, including board layout and thermal interface.
• Engage with GPU providers to align roadmaps with mission needs.
• Lead selection and qualification of GPU devices for space environment.
• Develop and own the GPU module qualification plan (radiation, thermal, vibration).
• Collaborate with systems engineers and software teams for AI/HPC workloads.
• Define compute fabric topology, including switch selection and topology.
