Job summary

DFDS in the United States is seeking a skilled Painter to work onboard a RORO vessel. You will carry out grit blasting and surface preparation on steel structures, apply primers and coatings, and maintain painting equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.

Qualified candidates have seagoing or shipyard experience, good English, and the ability to work in confined spaces and at height. This role requires strict adherence to safety procedures and team collaboration to complete jobs on time.

Qualifications

• Proven seagoing or shipyard experience as blaster/painter or similar role.
• Good knowledge of surface preparation and marine coating systems.
• Fit for physically demanding work, including working aloft and in enclosed areas.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow work instructions.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out grit blasting and surface preparation on steel structures.
• Apply primers, coatings and paint systems according to specifications.
• Maintain blasting and painting equipment in safe working order.
• Follow safety procedures, including PPE use and confined space rules.
• Work closely with deck and technical crew to plan and complete jobs on time.
