Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks a licensed Engineer to oversee propulsion, auxiliary, and onboard systems on our US-flag ships sailing inland and coastal routes along major rivers and the coast. You will operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all shipboard machinery and ensure safe performance in full compliance with maritime regulations.

You will report to the Captain and coordinate with Regional Port Engineers for repairs, training, and scheduling while supporting five-star guest service and a safe

Qualifications

• Valid MMC required for licensed engineer role.
• Experience with diesel machinery, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Knowledge of shipboard machinery and auxiliary systems.
• TWIC card and pre-employment drug testing required.
• Ability to perform essential functions and work in a demanding onboard environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all shipboard machinery including propulsion and electrical systems.
• Conduct regular inspections and provide 24-hour response for technical issues.
• Support vessel docking, logistics, and operational maintenance as needed.
• Implement maintenance schedules to keep equipment in optimal condition.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and safety standards.
• Document maintenance, repairs, liquid transfers, and inventory.
• Execute emergency procedures for engine failures, fires, or flooding.
• Promote safety culture and supervise crew adherence to protocols.
• Maintain grooming, uniform appearance, and professional conduct.
• Conduct daily Deck Security Watch and optimize fuel consumption.
• Manage spare parts, supplies, and contractor repairs; collaborate with Hotel Officers.
