Job summary

United States Seafoods is seeking a Licensed Marine Engineer to join one of our Alaska-based trawlers. Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years experience on fishing vessels and hold the USCG Engineer of Uninspected Fishing Vessel or greater.

This full-time, long-term position operates on a rotating schedule with roughly 60 days on duty and 60 days off, with contracts up to 90 days. Compensation is competitive and based on experience, and the company emphasizes safety and shipboard

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of marine engineering experience on fishing vessels.
• Must hold USCG Engineer of Uninspected Fishing Vessel or greater.
• Must be available for the full contract period (Approx. up to 90 days) and adhere to rotation schedule.

Responsibilities

• Communicate daily with the Master, Office, and Counterpart.
• Carry out orders, requests and duties as assigned.
• Maintain and upkeep vessel equipment including main propulsion, electrical generations, refrigeration, and hydraulics.
• Operate, monitor and evaluate engine performance, reporting any equipment issues and proposing remedies.
• Report unsafe or un-seaworthy conditions to the Master.
• Assist in maintenance/repair of fishing and factory equipment including refrigeration as needed.
• Supervise engine room personnel and support the factory technician for quality production.
• Plan and coordinate use of manpower, materials and equipment for shipboard maintenance and inventory control.
