Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an Employee in Charge (EIC) to deliver essential on-track safety services for freight railroads, transit systems, state DOTs, and rail industry partners in Susanville, OR.

The role requires coordinating train movements using tablets and smartphones, maintaining clear daily reports, and conducting thorough job briefings. Travel may occupy 50% to 85% of the time, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Requires proficiency with tablets and smartphones for coordinating train movements.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Detail-oriented with solid organizational abilities.
• Must be able to travel for extended periods, sometimes months at a time.
• Valid driver's license and HS diploma are required.
• Minimum railroad experience of 2 years, preferably in maintenance of way.

Responsibilities

• Provide On-Track Safety measures, including derail setups and safety tools.
• Prepare daily field reports and flag rule violations.
• Coordinate job-site activities and communication with Dispatchers and Train Crews.
• Lead trainings and briefings before crew entry to the track.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
