Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking an On-the-Job Trainer to lead the training and development of hourly team members on the production floor. You will coach new hires through essential knife techniques, sharpening, safety practices, and tool maintenance, ensuring they work safely and confidently.

You will document training progress, support job-bid transitions, and partner with plant supervision and the Training Supervisor to drive continuous improvement and employee retention.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2+ years’ relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in manufacturing operations is preferred.
• In lieu of a high school diploma, 6 years of Smithfield manufacturing industry experience.
• Clear and confident written and oral communication; ability to guide and support others.
• Bilingual ability is a plus for connecting with a diverse workforce.

Responsibilities

• Train new-hire and job-bid employees on essential job skills, safety practices, and job-specific techniques.
• Document training attendance, daily observations, and employee progress with accuracy.
• Collaborate with area supervisors to communicate training needs and performance concerns.
• Lead plant tours and onboarding, coach on PPE use and best practices, rotate shifts as needed.
