Job summary

SQA Services seeks a detail-oriented Welding Inspector to ensure welded components and assemblies meet applicable standards, drawings, and specifications. This on-site role runs 5 days a week, 4–8 hours daily, for a 3–6 month contract, with ITAR eligibility required.

Responsibilities include VT visual inspections, evaluating workmanship, reviewing WPS documentation, and coordinating with NDE as needed. Preferred candidates hold a CWI or VT Level II and OSHA safety training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training in welding inspection preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of structural welding inspection experience preferred.
• Experience inspecting structural steel fabrication and welded assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection (VT) of structural welds per AWS D1.1 criteria.
• Evaluate weld workmanship and surface condition.
• Identify weld discontinuities including cracks, undercut, porosity, and other defects.
• Verify weld profiles, weld size, and contour requirements.
• Inspect fillet, groove, CJP and PJP welds.
• Review WPS documentation and welder qualifications.
• Perform pre-weld, in-process, and final inspections.
• Coordinate with NDE personnel when required.
• Generate inspection reports and nonconformance documentation.
• Maintain inspection records and traceability.
