Job summary

Magellan Health, Fort Myer-Henderson Hall, Virginia, seeks an On Site Victim Advocate to support Army Family Advocacy and Victim Advocacy Programs. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field.
• Two years' experience with victims of domestic abuse or advocacy services.
• Knowledge of family violence dynamics, safety planning, risk assessments and relevant laws.
• Ability to intervene in crisis situations with sound judgment and ethics.
• Ability to work independently to assess risk and develop safety/intervention plans.
• Ability to collaborate with military and civilian agencies on behalf of victims.
• Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle license.
• Must be able to provide on-call 24 hours/7 days per week victim advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention and comprehensive victim services.
• Accompany victims to medical, legal and law enforcement appointments as requested.
• Assist in securing protective orders, emergency housing, food and other benefits.
• Develop safety plans and conduct lethality assessments with victims.
• Coordinate with the Family Advocacy Program Manager to ensure coordinated services.
• Maintain timely case management with data entry within three business days.
