Job summary

Manheim is seeking an on-site Vehicle Inspector in Irvine, CA to conduct thorough vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients. You will locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on lots, verify VINs and mileage, and document overall condition with attention to details.

The role requires strong automotive knowledge, a valid drivers license, and the ability to build client relationships while leveraging Salesforce for reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required for Level 1; higher levels require more experience or certifications.
• Senior level requires 5+ years in related field, or 7 years with alternate credentials.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record is required.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Pre-employment drug test is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory.
• Locate, start, move, inspect, and safely return vehicles on dealer client lots.
• Verify vehicle identification, VINs, mileage, sub-series, and options.
• Document vehicle exterior and interior condition, including tires, frame, glass, panels, mechanical components, seating, dashboard, and installed options.
• Perform basic mechanical checks across powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components.
• Identify and document damage, missing components, and inoperable features.
• Build trust and strong relationships with dealer clients.
• Educate clients on Manheim Marketplace and mobile inspection services.
• Engage dealers to increase inspection volume and maintain participation.
• Use data, insights, and partner input to improve inspection efficiency and territory productivity.
• Adapt to changes in appointments and schedules to ensure dealer coverage.
• Prepare and submit daily activity and production reports.
• Use Salesforce.com for reporting, lead management, and customer performance tracking.
• Collaborate with Wholesale Specialists, peers, and other Manheim teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and Lean process enhancement.
• Maintain production expectations and follow safety and health procedures.
• Participate in Safety Excellence initiatives.
• Comply with Manheim inspection standards, including the NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy.
• Senior level: perform advanced inspections, mentor peers, support onboarding, and serve as a subject matter resource.
