Job summary

American Turbines is seeking a Test Engineer to join the SF-based team and own the stand used to bring engines from cold spin to full power. You will work closely with the Lead Test Engineer on equipment, plumbing, fuel gas train, cooling, protection systems, and key instrumentation.

The role emphasizes hands-on sensor installation, DAQ configuration, and scripting for data reduction. On-site in San Francisco, relocation support may apply.

Qualifications

• Experience testing hardware: engines, rocket engines, turbochargers, or high-pressure systems.
• Instruments installation and data acquisition experience; able to build fixtures and plumbing.
• Strong scripting for data analysis in Python or similar; familiarity with DAQ basics.

Responsibilities

• Build and run the test stand to take the first engine from cold spin to full power.
• Collaborate with the Lead Test Engineer on stand infrastructure: structure, plumbing, fuel gas train, cooling, protection, instrumentation.
• Select and install sensors (thermocouples, pressure transducers, accelerometers); configure DAQ and calibrate.
• Develop procedures, run pre-test checklists, monitor hot tests, and cycle the stand between builds.
