Americase is seeking a hands-on Supplier Quality Engineer to be the on-site eyes and ears at supplier sites, ensuring quality and delivery accuracy across the supplier network in the United States, Mexico, and beyond.

The role travels to supplier and manufacturing partner sites to perform supplier qualification, first article inspections, production startup, and source inspection, verifying output quality and schedule while building strong supplier relationships and improving processes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of supplier quality, quality engineering, or quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, including work performed at supplier sites.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and quality experience.
• Hands‑on experience with fabricated metal, machined components, plastics, foam, and purchased hardware.
• Experience performing first article inspections, source inspections, and supplier audits.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record for the past three years.

Responsabilités

• Conduct supplier qualification visits and process audits, evaluating quality systems, process capability, inspection methods, equipment, and capacity, and document findings to support approval decisions.
• Oversee first article inspection at supplier sites for new parts, new suppliers, and design changes, verifying results against drawings and specifications and using AS9102 format where customers require it.
• Support startup at new and transitioning suppliers, verifying that process controls, work instructions, inspection plans, and packaging are in place before the first production shipment.
• Perform and witness source inspection of critical parts at supplier sites to confirm conformance before material ships.
• Monitor supplier quality and production schedule during site visits, verify work-in-process and shipment readiness, and report risks to delivery commitments.
• Assess supplier capacity and sub-tier constraints, such as raw material availability and outside processing, and report findings and recovery actions.
• Document nonconformances at the source, work with suppliers on immediate containment, and verify on site that corrective actions are implemented and effective.
• Communicate Americase quality, drawing, and customer flow-down requirements to suppliers, and help suppliers develop inspection and control plans.
• Prepare visit reports, audit findings, and first article inspection records, and maintain the supplier quality data used in scorecards.
• Support the Manager of Supplier Quality with supplier scorecards, performance reviews, risk assessments, and special projects.
