Job summary

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a Special Education Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year in Kansas City, Kansas. You will provide individualized instruction, develop and monitor IEP goals, and collaborate with families and school teams to help students access their education and progress.

The role offers guaranteed hours, planning time, and support from TheraPeds and the district, with 36–40 hours per week on-site across elementary to high school settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.
• Active or eligible New Hampshire educator certification with the appropriate Special Education endorsement.
• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, eligibility, progress monitoring, and special education procedures.
• School-based special education experience preferred.
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learning needs.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Good organization and time-management skills.
• Comfort with educational technology, data collection, and documentation.
• Ability to complete required background clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group special education instruction.
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and services.
• Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Collect data and monitor academic, behavioral, and functional progress.
• Complete progress reports, IEP documentation, and required records.
• Conduct or participate in educational assessments and eligibility processes.
• Serve as a case manager for assigned students.
• Participate in IEP, eligibility, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, families, and administrators.
• Support positive behavior, inclusion, independence, and student participation across school environments.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education
