Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Compliance Lead for an active solar construction project near Columbus, Montana. This on-site, on-call role focuses on ensuring regulatory permit compliance and on-site environmental oversight during the construction window.

Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years in environmental compliance, experience with NPDES/SPCC audits, GPS data collection, and strong communication skills to interface with contractors and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Soils, or a related field preferred, but not required.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in environmental compliance.
• Experience conducting and auditing NPDES stormwater inspections and SPCC audits.
• Proficiency using GPS units and field data collection tools.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with construction teams, clients, and agency staff.
• Ability to work independently in remote field environments.
• Willingness and ability to adhere to all health and safety requirements in rural and isolated work environments.
• Ability to work in harsh weather conditions and rugged terrain.
• Flexibility in scheduling due to changing field and construction conditions.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Verify compliance with regulatory permits and environmental requirements.
• Serve as on-site environmental compliance representative.
• Conduct on-site monitoring and inspections; document compliance.
• Audit contractor inspections and environmental records.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain field documentation.
• Provide regular communication and reporting to client staff.
• Assist with environmental incident response and follow-up.
• Maintain health and safety protocols on site.
• Work independently in the field and coordinate with office staff.
