Job summary

Abacus Group, LLC is seeking a junior-to-mid-level Software Developer to join its Trading Technology team. The role focuses on maintaining Windows client/server apps and contributing to new developments in a collaborative environment.

You’ll work closely with developers, the quantitative trading group, and other business users, gaining real autonomy to design robust technical solutions and improve system performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1–5 years of software development experience; internships considered.
• Strong OO skills; C# preferred; Java/Python also acceptable.
• Experience with concurrency, automated unit testing, and SQL.
• Strong communication across developers and business users.
• Attention to detail and reliable, well-tested software.
• Nice to have: event-driven architecture, F#, or functional programming.

Responsibilities

• Partner with developers and users to gather requirements and scope projects.
• Maintain and enhance Windows client/server applications and contribute to new builds.
• Review systems to improve robustness and performance.
• Propose technical and business-side improvements.
• Write product specifications and train colleagues/users.
• Carry out unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Support pre-trade signal and order generation systems through UAT and production, focusing on accuracy and reliability.
