Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Safety, Health, and Environment Specialist to support complex Oil & Gas and remediation projects in Los Angeles. You will drive proactive safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, and help project teams through hazard analysis, planning, and execution readiness.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of safety, health, and environment experience, with CSP/CIH/CHST preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of safety, health, and environment experience in Oil & Gas or remediation projects.
• Must pass client-specific background and drug & alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive Health and Safety Plan (HASP) reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and project-specific risk mitigation.
• Provide planning support during project development, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and control selection.
• Lead or support pre-field kickoff meetings, ensuring alignment on safety expectations, procedures, and mitigation strategies.
• Partner with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to integrate safety into project execution strategies.
• Monitor and interpret local, state, and federal safety regulations applicable to Oil & Gas and remediation activities.
• Develop and maintain safety documentation, procedures, and reports in support of project needs.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through coaching, communication, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support incident trend analysis and recommend corrective actions to minimize project risk.
