Job summary

Olson Defendorf Custom Homes is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Coordinator to own the daily financial administration in our Austin office. This is a part-time role with potential to become full-time, on-site only, paying $35–$45 per hour based on experience.

You'll manage accounts payable, reconcile bank accounts, prepare reports, and respond quickly to financial questions, acting as a reliable partner to the owner and project teams.

Qualifications

• Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accounts payable, reconciliations, transaction entry, and general bookkeeping practices.
• Experience in construction, custom home building, remodeling, real estate, or another project-based business is a strong plus.
• Comfortable working with accounting software, spreadsheets, and digital workflow systems.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Responsive and dependable, especially when vendors or team members are waiting on financial information.
• Proactive and resourceful. You naturally look one or two steps ahead rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
• Able and willing to work 100% on-site in our Austin office. This is not a remote or hybrid position.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting administration.
• Receive, review, enter, code, and track vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Manage accounts payable and help ensure vendors and trade partners are paid accurately and on time.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts.
• Process and track checks, credit card transactions, payments, and other financial activity.
• Prepare recurring accounting and financial reports for leadership.
• Assist with construction draws and project-related financial documentation.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting records across multiple custom home projects.
• Respond promptly to accounting-related emails, payment questions, and requests from vendors, subcontractors, clients, and the internal team.
• Work within accounting, project management, and digital bill-processing systems to keep financial workflows moving.
• Identify missing information, discrepancies, overdue items, or potential problems before they become bigger issues.
• Suggest better reports, processes, or systems when you see opportunities to improve how we operate.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow them through to completion without constant supervision.
