Job summary

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is seeking a dependable Day Porter / Custodian to support campus operations in Phoenix. This full-time, on-site role focuses on keeping classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas clean and welcoming for students and staff throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate maintains professionalism in a fast-paced educational setting, has at least two years of custodial experience, and can obtain the Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of custodial, facilities, maintenance, or related experience.
• Ability to obtain Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment including vacuums, buffers, and extractors.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the campus during the school day.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and other surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from indoor and outdoor areas.
• Clean windows, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
• Launder custodial materials such as towels and mop heads.
• Assist with cafeteria setup, school events, and operational needs as assigned.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, including light bulb replacement and basic facility upkeep.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
• Apply floor waxes, finishes, and sealants as directed.
