Job summary

Academies of Math and Science in Tucson is seeking a dependable Day Porter / Custodian to support daily operations and maintain a clean, safe campus environment for students and staff. This on-site, full-time role starts ASAP and is located at 434 W Lerdo Rd.

Compensation ranges from $15.50 to $18.00 per hour (DOE). The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and able to work independently while following safety procedures and collaborating with campus leadership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two (2) years of custodial, facilities, maintenance, or related experience.
• Knowledge of custodial procedures, cleaning equipment, and safe chemical handling practices.
• Ability to operate custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet extractors.
• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the campus during the school day.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, cafeterias, gymnasiums, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors and other surfaces.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling from indoor and outdoor areas.
• Clean windows, walls, fixtures, and high-touch surfaces.
• Launder custodial materials such as towels and mop heads.
• Maintain adequate inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Assist with cafeteria setup, school events, and operational needs as assigned.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, including light bulb replacement and basic facility upkeep.
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment, including vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet extractors.
• Apply floor waxes, finishes, and sealants as directed.
