Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector for highway construction projects across multiple locations. You will support inspection of traffic control, materials, and construction methods, under supervision, and help verify contractor QA/QC per contract provisions.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic arithmetic proficiency.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn software quickly.
• Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in highway construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and accept/reject work per approved plans and QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results; measure quantities and potentially sample in‑place materials.
