Job summary

Cooper Standard seeks a Quality Engineer to support implementing and maintaining quality system requirements, including APQP, PPAP, and customer collaborations. The role covers gauging, process control plans, supplier issues, TS 16949 elements, and ISO 14001 while promoting Lean and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include establishing control plans with Gage R&R studies, delivering on-site quality documents, and ensuring processes meet customer specs. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Four years of College or University Degree in Business, Quality, Engineering or related field preferred.
• Two to three years’ experience in a Quality related role, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Ability to solve complex problems and exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and personal development skills.
• Experience in a variety of basic operation disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process / Tooling and Shop Floor Supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Establish and implement process control plans to include capability studies and Gage R&R.
• Provide quality documents to the floor, including control plans, control cards, visual aids and work instructions.
• Monitor floor processes for conformance to control plans and customer requirements.
• Participate in APQP.
• Prepare and submit PPAP packages ensuring all elements are met per customer requirements.
• Develop and implement SPC activities and new techniques as available.
• Perform capability studies on new jobs and other situations as needed.
• Participates in and performs Layered Process Audits (LPA) per plan.
• Ensure housekeeping and Health & Safety Standards are maintained.
• Comply with TS 16949 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Utilize continuous improvement concepts including Lean.
• May perform other duties as required.
