Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Interconnect Products, Inc. in San Marcos, CA is seeking a Production Planner/Buyer to manage production scheduling, inventory control, material planning, and purchasing to support manufacturing goals on site.

The role collaborates with Engineers, Product Management and Manufacturing, reviews orders, expedites, coordinates supplier and subcontractor activities, and maintains data integrity across the item database.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the supply chain field preferably in but not limited to production planning, and scheduling.
• Experienced and able to utilize computerized planning and purchasing software systems.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
• Must be able to perform mathematical functions such as fractions, unit conversions, and ratios.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-pace, multi-tasking environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with employees from all levels of the company and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Create, process, maintain, and expedite work orders and purchase orders to maintain proper inventory.
• Monitor inventory levels and track order progress to ensure on-time delivery.
• Create and modify production schedules for each operation.
• Attend scheduling meetings and discuss scheduling issues.
• Coordinate inventory replenishment and accuracy with sub-contractors.
• Perform daily and monthly inventory cycle counts.
• Update inventory levels through transfers and adjustments.
• Review and correct discrepancies in work orders.
• Coordinate with Purchasing for on-time orders.
• Assist with maintaining item databases and related data.
• Review and process non-conforming reports.
• Request quotes and samples from subcontractors.
• Communicate with Engineers, Product Management and Manufacturing to coordinate R&D, D&D and samples.
• Manage excess and slow-moving inventory or obsolete items.
• Perform routine data entry and filing tasks.
• Work with Accounting and Warehouse on transactions.
