Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking an on-site fitness instructor to train individuals and small groups, acting as a liaison and motivator for members in ongoing YMCA programs. The role focuses on wellness coaching, class instruction, and helping participants achieve healthy lifestyle goals.

Two+ years teaching experience and fitness certifications are preferred. Instructors earn a wage range of $24.00–$26.40/hour DOE and receive YMCA membership, health insurance options, retirement

Qualifications

• Two or more years experience teaching or practicing in a specialized area.
• Ability to lead a class or provide individual service.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
• Ability to motivate and educate members.
• Ability to set up, move and store equipment.
• Personal Trainer certification from nationally recognized bodies.

Responsibilities

• Plans and instructs classes or programs in a specialty area.
• Observes and discusses participant progress and provides motivational support.
• Develops positive relationships with participants and members.
• Encourages involvement of members and potential volunteers.
• TV attends staff trainings and keeps equipment in good condition.
• Ensures safe, effective classes and reports incidents promptly.
• Leads Total Health classes and tracks participant progress.
