Lawrence Paper Company in Lawrence, Kansas is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our Accounting team. The role focuses on accurate, timely payroll processing, wage garnishments, deductions, PTO, and payroll reporting while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

You will work closely with HR and external vendors to maintain records, answer payroll questions, and support month-end and year-end activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience.
• Working knowledge of payroll practices, wage garnishment administration, and payroll compliance.
• Experience with payroll software (AS400, Kronos, Bswift a plus).

Responsibilities

• Process and audit weekly payroll to ensure accurate and timely payment.
• Maintain payroll records including deductions, reimbursements, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
• Administer wage garnishments and ensure compliance with court orders.
• Coordinate payroll-related benefit deductions and updates.
• Maintain PTO accruals, adjustments, payouts, and rollover processes.
• Respond to payroll questions from employees and supervisors.
• Prepare payroll reports and support month-end/year-end activities (W-2).
• Partner with HR and vendors to ensure accurate payroll administration.
