Job summary

University of Miami Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative 3 (On-Site) to oversee registration and financial clearance activities, enabling reimbursement for services. The role serves as a functional expert for department peers and leads other access representatives.

Responsibilities include obtaining accurate demographic and insurance data, verifying eligibility, obtaining authorizations, and communicating with families and physicians.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge and accounting principles.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong attention to detail in processing demographics and financial data.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Obtains, confirms, and enters demographic, financial, and clinical information for financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
• Contact patients’ families or physicians’ offices to obtain missing insurance information.
• Verifies insurance and confirms eligibility of patient coverage benefits; notifies patient and physician when needed.
• Collaborates with scheduling departments to identify add-on patients.
• Obtains necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
• Notifies patients of liabilities prior to service date and collects funds.
• Maintains records, files, and documentation in the system of record.
• Serves as a lead resource for lower level Patient Access Representatives.
• Recommends new approaches to management for enhancing performance and productivity.
