Compass Packaging Solutions, a SupplyOne company, seeks an on-site Packaging Engineer at our North Billerica, MA facility to lead packaging design and production support. The role emphasizes SolidWorks CAD modeling, prototyping, cost estimation, and collaboration with customers and production teams to deliver cost-effective, compliant packaging solutions.

Ideal candidate has a bachelor's in packaging/mechanical/industrial or related, plus hands-on design and manufacturing experience, including

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience in packaging engineering or related field.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D part and assembly design with production drawings.
• Experience in manufacturing packaging environments and design-to-production handoffs.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design custom protective packaging in SolidWorks, including crates, corrugated, and foam assemblies.
• Provide customer and application support and translate requirements into designs.
• Estimate production costs and prepare quotes for self-generated designs.
• Coordinate prototypes and validation to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability.
• Manage ERP/BOMs, revision records, routings, and production documentation.
• Support manufacturing on the shop floor to transition designs to production.
• Create and maintain fabrication drawings, cut lists, and specifications.
• Select materials based on fragility, shipping conditions, cost, and sustainability.
