Job summary

Matrix Basement Finishing in Arlington Heights, IL, is hiring an Assistant Construction Operations Manager to lead day-to-day residential construction operations. You will oversee field teams, coordinate scheduling with Field Managers, and drive accountability across projects.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager to resolve issues, improve processes, and ensure a consistent customer experience. The role requires hands-on leadership and a focus on delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of residential construction, remodeling, project management, or construction operations experience.
• Experience managing residential construction projects from start through completion.
• Experience working directly with subcontractors and construction trades.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and construction/project-management software.

Responsibilities

• Support the Operations Manager in overseeing daily residential construction operations.
• Monitor active projects, schedules, milestones, delays, and outstanding action items.
• Coordinate subcontractor availability, scheduling, performance, and project needs.
• Identify projects at risk of delay and coordinate corrective action.
• Help ensure labor, materials, permits, inspections, plans, and project documentation are ready when needed.
• Assist with escalated customer concerns involving construction, scheduling, workmanship, or communication.
