Job summary

SMS DATA PRODUCTS GROUP, INC is seeking a Sr. Telecommunications Specialist to support BIM contract on site at the Air National Guard location. The role provides on-site Tier 2 support augmenting CS personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure.

SMS has a long history since 1976 of modernizing legacy IT for federal agencies. This temporary position is 9-12 months, offering opportunities to engage with DoD security standards and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of experience in telecommunications systems or related field.
• On-site, BS or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site Tier 2 support augmenting CS personnel in operating legacy NIPR and SIPR Base Area Network infrastructure.
• Perform shared Tier 2 duties including fielding network equipment, troubleshooting devices, configuring network devices, monitoring performance, and collecting data.
• Respond to EITSM tickets and service calls from Client System Administrators and Communications Focal Point personnel.
• Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment including switches, routers, wireless access points, and fiber optic systems.
• Troubleshoot ISP/OSP activities and coordinate with BIM Vendor support.
• Execute security patching per vendor guidance and maintain configuration management.
• Coordinate with base CS and BIM Vendor Tier 3/4 engineering support; participate in change management and configuration control boards.
