Job summary

Space Ground Systems Solutions, Inc. (SGSS) seeks a full-time on-site Network Engineer to support DoD network infrastructure in Welcome, MD and nearby sites. You will maintain enterprise networks and assist in growing cloud networking skills under senior IT leadership.

The role involves coordinating across locations including Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, focusing on on-premises support with valuable cloud exposure. This position requires active clearance and US citizenship.

Qualifications

• Active DoD SECRET clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering/IT or equivalent.
• 3+ years in network engineering, administration, or support.
• Experience maintaining enterprise network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs).
• Knowledge of OSPF, BGP, VLANs, L2/L3 switching.
• Hands-on with Cisco and/or Palo Alto equipment.
• Strong network security principles and firewall/VPN management.
• Proficiency with network monitoring tools and ticketing systems.
• Experience with RMF and CMMC control families.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support network infrastructure (Cisco, Palo Alto) including firewalls, routers, switches, LANs, WANs, VPNs and wireless networks.
• Implement network configuration changes per approved design and direction.
• Assist in planning and deployment of cloud network infra in AWS (VPC, VPN, security groups).
• Apply security best practices and elevate security concerns when needed.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, SOPs, and records.
• Support program engineering activities including CM and change control.
• Respond to tickets (Slack/GitLab) and provide Tier 2/3 support.
• Evaluate and implement network solutions in collaboration with senior staff.
• Coordinate hardware lifecycle activities and vendor procurements.
