Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Morenci, AZ, seeks a skilled Mobile Crane Operator/Maintenance Technician to support our open-pit copper operations.

Under general supervision, you will assist the crane team, participate in safety programs, and help plan maintenance and lift activities. The role requires an Apprenticeship or two-year degree, CDL, and strong knowledge of rigging, hydraulics and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program or a two-year associate’s degree in mechanical field with four years of related experience.
• Pass the Certified Crane Operator exam and hands-on test; knowledge includes hydraulics and schematics.
• Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
• Experience with mobile crane safety, maintenance, and load testing.
• Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints and schematics in English.
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and training of employees performing mobile crane operations.
• Support planning and preparation of scheduled crane jobs for safe execution.
• Participate in company safety programs and JSA/SOP initiatives.
• Assist management in ensuring policy, procedure and regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to budget development for departmental O&M and capital needs.
• Mentor and onboard new Mobile Crane Operators and Apprentices.
