Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Clinical Social Worker to provide psychosocial assessments, counseling, and discharge planning for patients and families. The role covers Level I duties with potential Level II leadership responsibilities, including supervision and team coordination.

The position requires a Master’s degree in Social Work and a current LCSW credential, with 2 years post‑internship healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program.
• Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
• Two years of post‑internship social work experience in healthcare or social services.
• Level II requires five years post‑master’s experience and leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Level I: Conduct psychosocial assessments of patients and families; develop and implement treatment plans.
• Provide crisis intervention, individual/family/marital/group therapy; address grief and bereavement.
• Screen, diagnose per DSM criteria, and treat mental health or substance use concerns.
• Coordinate pre/post‑hospital social work needs and community resources; document per standards.
• Participate in teaching, research, and quality improvement; maintain records.
