Job summary

Physicians' Surgery Center of Tidewater is seeking an experienced Medical Biller for an on-site role in Virginia Beach. You will manage claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and patient communications in a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery setting.

The position requires accurate billing, strong knowledge of EOBs and payer guidelines, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while ensuring HIPAA compliance and timely month-end reporting.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of two years medical billing experience in ambulatory surgery center or physician practice.
• Excellent communication with patients, payers, and staff.
• Familiarity with patient accounting software and electronic billing systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and submit accurate electronic and paper claims to insurance carriers.
• Monitor and follow up on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims to maximize reimbursement.
• Review and appeal denied claims in a timely manner.
• Post insurance and patient payments accurately and reconcile account discrepancies.
• Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and payment responsibilities.
• Interpret EOBs, payer guidelines, and contracts.
• Maintain accurate patient accounts in the billing system.
• Collaborate with staff to resolve billing issues.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and other billing regulations.
• Assist with month-end reporting and other revenue cycle activities.
