Job summary

Cargo Robotics is seeking a Mechatronics Technician for an on-site contract role in Menlo Park. You will help build, test, and maintain X1 systems as prototypes evolve toward pilots and production. The work emphasizes practical assembly, problem solving, and collaboration with engineers for reliable results.

You will contribute to a small, impact-driven team with opportunities for transition to full-time employment and other benefits as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Associates or higher in engineering technology, robotics, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience building, integrating, testing, maintaining, or repairing mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Strong mechanical intuition and practical build skills.
• Experience reading CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, or schematics; SolidWorks familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and integrate mechanical assemblies and electrical subsystems for X1 prototypes.
• Fabricate and install frames, actuators, panels, cable harnesses, motors, sensors, and electrical enclosures.
• Identify missing parts, unclear requirements, and build issues early; resolve with engineers.
• Keep prototype systems synchronized by applying design changes and validating functionality.
• Run defined performance and reliability tests, document results, and troubleshoot with the team.
• Maintain an organized, safe prototype shop and support pilot installations.
