Job summary

Skild AI is seeking a Mechatronics Technician in San Mateo to build and test prototypes and support manufacturing workflows. You will work with aerial, ground, and integrated hardware, collaborating with Electrical, Mechanical, and Firmware Engineers to accelerate prototyping and improve reliability.

The role requires hands-on experience with prototype electro‑mechanical hardware, PCBAs, harnesses, and test equipment, with a strong foundation in electrical engineering concepts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or development lab.
• Ability to read/interpret PCBA schematics, cable drawings, and test procedures independently.
• Experience with prototype electro‑mechanical hardware (PCBAs, cables, harnesses, robotic/vehicle systems).
• Hands‑on skills: soldering, crimping, rework, cable assembly to IPC standards; familiarity with electrical components, connectors, tools, and test equipment.
• Solid grasp of fundamental electrical engineering concepts.

Responsibilities

• Build and test prototypes, sub-assemblies, and feasibility units under engineering guidance.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, and layouts to perform testing, checkout, troubleshooting, and rework of PCBAs and harnesses.
• Fabricate custom test equipment, boxes, and harnesses; procure and source components as needed.
• Operate and set up standard test equipment (oscilloscopes, analyzers, supplies, DMMs) and perform PCBA/cable rework to IPC standards.
• Adapt plans quickly in a fast‑paced environment with evolving goals.
