Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work, performing sheet metal modifications and piping tasks in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and active job sites.

You will follow job specs, read drawings, and maintain high safety standards, including LOTO, while communicating status to foreman and ensuring quality on first pass.

Travel to construction sites as needed, use torque wrenches, and work with HVAC/mechanical systems in varying environments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Knowledge of flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections.
• Ability to travel to construction sites and work in active environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment and ducting interfaces.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify fit and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements and related isolation, removal/replacement, reassembly, and checks.
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification with appropriate tools.
• Execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO): identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout devices, verify zero-energy state.
• Read and work from drawings and specs to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE and follow safety policies.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to supervisor/foreman; document completed work.
• Use torque wrenches and standard hand/power tools properly.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks; escalate issues when needed.
