Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work in active job sites, rooftops, and mechanical rooms. You will perform sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, gasket and valve replacements, and torque operations, while adhering to LOTO procedures and safety standards.

The role requires reading job documentation, safe tool use, and effective communication with supervisors. Travel to construction sites is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Ability to read drawings and job documentation.
• Willingness to travel to construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, verify fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation, removal/replacement, reassembly, checks).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification with proper tools.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, verify zero-energy state.
• Read and work from job documentation to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow safety policies and site rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to supervisor/foreman; document completed work.
• Use and maintain tools properly, including torque wrenches and standard hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks; elevate issues when needed.
