Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support D460 Construction at Quonset Point in Rhode Island. This role provides on-site technical leadership for mechanical operations during VIRGINIA Class construction. The candidate will assist operations personnel to resolve construction and design issues and interface with Navy representatives and SMEs.

Required are a B.S. in a related field, 1–5 years of post-graduate experience, proficiency with MS Office, and the ability

Qualifications

• BS degree or higher in a mechanical or related engineering field.
• 1–5 years of post-graduate engineering experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and assistance to operations personnel.
• Evaluate shipyard issues and develop technically acceptable resolutions.
• Interpret design, drawing, and specification requirements.
• Coordinate SMEs in the construction sequence.
• Answer VIRS for issues related to EBQP work.
• Perform engineering calculations for as-built configurations.
• Perform surveillances of manufacturing, inspection and testing.
