Job summary

MSA Safety Inc. in Auburn, ME is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to strengthen plant quality and process capability. You will partner with production, operations, and engineering to sustain robust manufacturing processes and deliver high-quality products.

You will lead root cause analysis, drive corrective actions, and apply PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, 8D, and Lean tools to reduce scrap and variation while improving FPY and customer satisfaction. Travel and audits may be involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Experience in Quality Engineering or related Engineering; 1–3 years depending on level.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and customer issues.
• Apply PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, 8D, and Lean tools to improve processes.
• Support supplier quality and production improvements.
• Monitor FPY using SPC and data-driven interventions.
• Lead containment actions (Stop Ship/Stop Production) and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support audits and maintain QMS compliance.
