Job summary

MSA Safety in Auburn, Maine is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to ensure robust processes and product quality at the plant level. You will lead root cause analysis, manage quality tools, and coordinate corrective actions across production, engineering, and supplier interfaces.

You will apply PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP/PPAP, and Lean methodologies to minimize scrap and defects while enhancing process capability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of QMS standards (ISO 9001) and core manufacturing quality tools.
• Ability to apply statistical analysis to manufacturing data for problem solving.
• Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration.
• Project management to lead corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Change management practices to sustain manufacturing process changes.

Responsibilities

• Lead structured problem-solving efforts from issue identification through verified corrective action closure.
• Apply PFMEA, Control Plans, APQP, PPAP, 8D, Lean tools to reduce waste and improve quality.
• Monitor FPY using SPC and process capability analyses.
• Lead Stop Ship/Stop Production actions and coordinate corrective actions.
• Support NPD and change management activities for new products and process changes.
• Provide training on QMS procedures and quality tools to plant staff.
• Drive quality readiness for new product introductions and process changes.
