Job summary

Fives Machining System Inc - Composites is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Co‑op/Apprentice to join the Operations team in Kentucky. You will develop, optimize, and support manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency while collaborating with production, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes Lean continuous improvement, CAD usage, data analysis, and cross‑functional design reviews for new and existing projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or related environment preferred.
Strong knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with CAD software, industrial automation, and manufacturing equipment.
Solid analytical and problem‑solving abilities; effective communication in a fast-paced, production environment.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
Provide day‑to‑day technical support to production operations and troubleshoot process or equipment issues.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, Six Sigma, and standardization.
Create and update process documentation, PFMEAs, control plans, and SOPs for assembly processes.
Support cross‑functional design reviews and coordinate with assembly & engineering on new machines and retrofits.
