Job summary

Minimum one year of physical plant experience in an institutional setting is preferred, with high school diploma or equivalent and vocational training options.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate competence in applying mechanical and technical concepts to facility repair and maintenance projects.
• Able to maintain essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Experience with building and safety codes as they apply to facilities.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competence in applying mechanical and technical concepts to facility plant repair and maintenance projects.
• Maintain essential mechanical, electrical and patient care equipment in safe operating condition.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
• Apply building and safety codes to facility procedures to ensure quality standards.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance throughout the physical plant and for all equipment.
• Maintain and test the emergency power system to ensure power availability to entrances, exits, alarms and life support systems.
• Maintain essential equipment such as boiler room equipment and refrigerators in safe operating condition.
• Test facility hot water system temperatures in essential locations.
• Inspect, test, and maintain the call system to ensure a functioning communication system throughout rooms and facilities.
