Job summary

POET is seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Arthur, IA bioprocessing facility. This on-site role requires performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of plant equipment.

Expect 12-hour shifts and potential call-ins, with emphasis on safety, SOP adherence, and teamwork across departments. The candidate should be skilled in plant processes, able to train others, and communicate issues to management while maintaining a clean, safe working environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Documented Maintenance Technician I experience or equivalent.
• Experience with fabrication, welding, and repair of plant equipment.
• Concrete work, hydraulics, pneumatics, and reading schematics helpful.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and learning new programs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance tasks with team and other departments.
• Maintain boiler and cooling tower systems; test water chemistry.
• Service plant equipment: pumps, gearboxes, motors, valves, PLCs, heat exchangers.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and document tasks in Maximo.
• Operate and maintain water filtration; follow SOPs and LOTO procedures.
