Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support a major life sciences manufacturing startup project in Holly Springs, NC. This on-site, 12-month+ contract role involves hands-on startup, energization, and mechanical readiness activities in a collaborative field environment.

The position covers shutdown-free maintenance work with opportunities to engage across engineering, CQV leads, and field teams, from junior to senior levels.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical work.
• Ability to interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Experience with system walkdowns, commissioning or startup processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute startup and set-to-work activities to bring systems online post-construction.
• Perform system walkdowns to confirm installation accuracy before commissioning.
• Support energization with lockout/tagout, loop checks, and calibration readiness.
• Troubleshoot leaks, valve positions, and equipment issues to ensure readiness.
• Collaborate with engineering and field teams to track punch items and timelines.
