Job summary

SVN International in Mobile, AL seeks a dependable Part-Time Maintenance Technician to perform a broad range of apartment maintenance and make-ready tasks onsite at a 103-unit community. You will address resident requests, participate in preventive maintenance, and help keep common areas safe and clean.

The role requires hands-on skills in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry, with a focus on quality work and customer service for residents.

Qualifications

• Experience in apartment or residential maintenance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, carpentry and painting.
• HVAC/EPA certification is preferred but not required; troubleshoot HVAC effectively.
• Ability to work independently and manage service requests with accuracy.
• Professional, courteous customer service towards residents.

Job description

We are seeking a dependable, hands‑on Part-Time Maintenance Technician to help maintain a 103‑unit apartment community in Mobile. This is an onsite role for someone who takes pride in quality work, responds well to resident needs, and can handle a broad range of apartment maintenance and make‑ready tasks.

Responsibilities

• Complete resident service requests promptly and professionally
• Perform general repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, drywall, painting, doors, locks, windows, blinds, and fixtures
• Assist with vacant‑unit turns and make‑readies, including repairs, painting, cleaning support, and punch‑list completion
• Conduct routine property inspections and preventive maintenance
• Maintain common areas, grounds, sidewalks, breezeways, dumpster areas, and equipment in clean, safe condition
• Troubleshoot maintenance issues and report major repairs or vendor needs to management
• Maintain organized maintenance areas, tools, keys, supplies, and inventory
• Follow company safety procedures and applicable housing, building, and Fair Housing requirements
• Communicate clearly with the property manager, residents, vendors, and team members
• Assist with after‑hours emergency maintenance on an as‑needed basis

Qualifications

• Previous apartment maintenance, residential maintenance, or skilled‑trade experience preferred
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, carpentry, drywall, and painting
• HVAC/EPA certification is preferred but not required; strong HVAC troubleshooting experience is a plus
• Ability to work independently, prioritize service requests, and complete work accurately
• Professional, respectful customer‑service approach with residents
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds, use ladders, and perform physical maintenance work indoors and outdoors
• Must be dependable, organized, and able to pass applicable pre‑employment screening
