Job summary

Leidos seeks a Linux Server Systems Engineer to support the National Digital Exploitation & OSINT Center at the Intelligence Community Campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The role focuses on designing, integrating, deploying, and optimizing Linux-based server infrastructure across physical and virtual environments on-site.

The engineer will apply systems engineering principles to deliver reliable, secure, scalable infrastructure, collaborating with cybersecurity, application teams, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or related field with 4+ years of experience.
• Experience engineering, deploying, integrating, and maintaining Linux/UNIX server environments.
• Experience with RHEL, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux, and/or Ubuntu.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server and/or Spacewalk for lifecycle management.
• Experience with Ansible, Salt, Puppet, Chef for automation.
• Scripting in Linux shells, PowerShell, Python, or similar.
• Experience with server patch and lifecycle management.
• Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
• Good written and verbal technical communication.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, integrate, configure, and optimize Linux server solutions across physical and virtual environments.
• Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis and system testing.
• Develop automation for provisioning, patching, and monitoring using Ansible, Salt, Puppet, Chef.
• Design and implement Linux system-hardening aligned with security requirements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to collect requirements and implement solutions.
• Produce engineering assessments, action items, and lessons learned.
• Maintain engineering docs including architectures, procedures, and configs.
