Job summary

The American Alpine Club is seeking three temporary full-time Library Assistants to support a time-bound project to process, inventory, and box print, archival, and object collections. This on-site role requires 32–40 hours per week and hands-on attention to detail.

You will create inventory records, apply naming conventions and metadata standards, and document workflows while helping keep storage areas safe.

Qualifications

• Experience in library science, archives, or museum studies.
• BA or MA in relevant field is a bonus.
• MLS/MLIS students considered.

Responsibilities

• Inventory library, archival, and museum holdings.
• Assess materials condition and flag items needing attention.
• Apply naming conventions, metadata schemas, and organizational structures.
• Document workflows and ensure assets are locatable.
• Assist in keeping library and storage areas safe and clean.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Library Director.
